* He helped me purchase a beautiful house in a fantastic neighborhood in Rockford, Michigan, sight unseen! I was unable to make the trip from the West Coast on such short notice as the real estate market was booming last spring/summer and had not been in Michigan at that point for 12 years. Because I had worked for him when I was in college I know his character and I know that his protective fatherly nature would not steer me wrong. When I would bring up a home at a good price that was not a good deal he was blunt and straight forward and said you don't want this house because of x, y and z. He was not in this transaction just to make $$$ or else he could have sold me a house before we landed on our dream home on a culdesac in our dream neighborhood. Now I am sure that he wouldn't want me advocating that that he helped me purchase a home sight unseen as I believe it may have caused him ample stress :-) but he did and I could not be happier with our purchase!

When I was looking at houses he was able to tell me what builders skimped during the last recession, which areas were best for schools with my son who is autistic, and what areas I really did not want to invest in.
